The Best New Music From July 2011

Out of all the new music released in July 2011, the best album was probably the new Incubus album, If Not Now, When? (Check out an in depth review at this music review site).

The album is layered and complex.  The first song on the album, which is also called "If not now, when?" is slow and, not plodding, but dignified, like a victory lap.

With this album, we see a more mature Incubus, more layers in the music, but in a simple way.  There are some fun moments, though.  "Promises, Promises" is slow but straightforward, with a strong baseline and classic Incubus vocals.

"Switchblade" is probably the funnest song on the album.  While it's not as funky and out of this world crazy as "Nebula" from their "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." album, this song is funky in its own right, and has a lot of that new incubus flavor, keeping things fun, melodic, and catchy as right field pop-fly (get it?).

So check out "If Not Now, When?" from Incubus, the best tuesday release from July 2011.
